What is Pelvic Steaming?

Vaginal steaming, Yoni steaming, Peristeaming, V-steaming or Pelvic steaming?

It comes by many names, whichever name you come to use it is the act of kneeling or sitting over a pot of steaming water and opening your pelvic region, ideally from vulva to anus to allow the steam therapy in. Particular herbs are often chosen to add to the steam targeting specific concerns.

Pelvic steaming is a growing practice, being recognised as a non-invasive way to work with women’s gynecological health concerns. In some countries this practice never stopped such as South Korea and Suriname. The practice is being picked up by some OB/GYNs in North America and being used in a number of hospitals in Europe.

Despite its long history and cultural significance, pelvic steaming lost its prominent place as women’s medicine with the rise of allopathic medicine, however its being remembered across the globe. With a renewed interest in holistic health and natural wellness, more women are exploring the benefits of pelvic steaming for menstrual wellness, fertility, and overall well-being. We aim to honour these traditional practices while providing modern understanding into pelvic steaming.
